COMMUNITY ROLE
Public Media Institute works with established artists, and also creates opportunities for younger and emerging artists to participate in events, exhibitions and events alongside their more experienced colleagues. All participants expose their work to an international audience, including the public, collectors, museum curators, gallerists, and dealers. We support all art, be it commercial or avant-garde, reverent or experimental, linear or intuitive. We especially encourage experimentation and risk.
PMI runs full-time on a part time basis, thanks to its Chicago volunteers. Students, long time residents, musicians, performance artists, and just plain folks are part of the operational and volunteer staff. While there is a core group of committed individuals, most progress happens thanks to an open and collaborative process. We encourage personal interest, demystification, incorporation, learning by doing, and getting hands dirty.
